A ticket without repro steps is a signal, not a bug report. This guide shows support ops and on-call engineers the exact workflow to extract structure, pass the confidence gate, and hand off an actionable escalation without the 2-5 day round-trip.
The most expensive triage mistake is escalating a feature request as a bug, or dropping a code-actionable feature request as 'not a bug.' This post explains the structural distinction and what it means for your escalation workflow.
When a support ticket reaches engineering, a second lifecycle begins: triage, code location, PR review, deploy confirmation, and customer notification. This post maps every checkpoint from the support lead's seat and explains where silence turns into churn.
Support leads say engineering ignores their tickets; engineering managers say escalations are unactionable prose, both observations are correct, and both describe the same format mismatch at the handoff boundary.
Most support teams assign severity by gut feel or customer loudness. This post explains why structured extraction, confidence gating, and code-location matching are the only reliable way to protect engineering triage time.
